MoneySky vs Wallet by BudgetBakers: The Best Budget App vs. The Platform You Won't Outgrow

Anton

Let us start with the facts: Wallet by BudgetBakers is a fantastic deal. For a one‑time payment of about €35 you get a polished mobile app that has been downloaded over 10 million times, bank connections to more than 15,000 institutions worldwide, and budgeting tools that have been refined since 2010. For pure personal finance tracking it is arguably the best value in Czech fintech.

So why would anyone consider MoneySky instead?

Because at some point your financial life outgrows what a budgeting app can handle. You open a brokerage account. You start a side project that turns into real income. Suddenly you are juggling personal spending, investment returns, client invoices and Czech tax obligations – and no matter how good your budgeting app is, it only sees one piece of the puzzle.

MoneySky is a new platform. We launched in 2025. We cost more than BudgetBakers, but we are designed for the entire financial journey – from your first ETF purchase to your first s.r.o.

Where BudgetBakers genuinely wins

Bank coverage is massive. BudgetBakers connects to over 15,000 banks worldwide through Salt Edge and Yodlee. MoneySky covers 2,000 plus European banks via GoCardless. For Czech banks both work well, but if you have accounts in the US or Asia BudgetBakers reaches further.

The mobile app is mature and fast. Wallet has been mobile‑first for over a decade. Widgets, Apple Watch support, offline mode – it is a polished experience. MoneySky is web‑only right now and we are upfront about that.

Predictive analytics are genuinely useful. Wallet can forecast your future balance based on planned payments and spending patterns. It factors in upcoming bills and tells you what you will actually have available next week. That is a thoughtful feature we respect.

The price is hard to beat. About €22 per year for Premium, or €35 for a lifetime purchase. MoneySky at €79.90 per year costs roughly 3.5 times more annually. If budgeting is your only need that math is hard to argue with.

Where the picture changes

BudgetBakers is a personal finance app. It is very good at being a personal finance app. But it is only a personal finance app and that is where the story gets interesting.

Investments are surface level. BudgetBakers added stock and ETF tracking, which is great in principle. The implementation is basic: current prices and 30‑day trends. There is no calculation of realized or unrealized gains, no dividend tracking, no diversification analysis, and no connection to your actual brokerage. It feels more like a manual portfolio note than a real investment tracker.

MoneySky connects directly to brokerages such as Degiro and shows your investments as part of your complete financial picture. When your ETF portfolio goes up 3 percent in a month that change is reflected in your net worth alongside your bank balance and everything else.

Business and personal are separate worlds. BudgetBakers has a business finance product called Board, but it is a completely separate app – not integrated with Wallet at all. Your personal spending in Wallet and your business invoices in Board never talk to each other. You cannot see your complete financial picture in either one.

MoneySky was designed from day one to combine personal and business finance. Your freelance invoices, your personal spending, your investment portfolio all live in the same platform. When a client pays an invoice it shows up in the same dashboard where you track your grocery budget.

Czech tax tools do not exist in Wallet. If you are an OSVČ wondering whether switching to an s.r.o. would save you money, or if you are watching your VAT threshold creep toward 2,000,000 Kč, BudgetBakers cannot help. MoneySky has a tax structure optimizer that compares OSVČ versus s.r.o. scenarios with your real numbers, tracks your VAT threshold automatically, and exports everything your accountant needs.

The financial journey argument

Here is the thing about financial tools: most people do not start out needing everything at once. You start by tracking your spending. Then you start investing. Then a side hustle turns into real freelance income. Then you are running a business.

At each transition you either add another app to your stack – Wallet for budgeting, a brokerage app for investments, an invoicing tool, a spreadsheet for tax planning – or you move to something that handles the whole picture.

BudgetBakers is the best app for step one. MoneySky is the platform for steps one through five.

The honest cost comparison

MoneySkyBudgetBakers Wallet
Monthly€7.99 (~200 Kč)~€3.50
Annual€79.90~€22
LifetimeNot available~€35

Yes, BudgetBakers is dramatically cheaper. But consider what happens when your needs expand:

BudgetBakers Wallet (€35 lifetime) plus Fakturoid Firma (211 Kč per month) plus a manual spreadsheet plus no tax tools equals about 211 Kč per month ongoing, with gaps in investment integration and tax coverage.

MoneySky (€7.99 per month) equals about 200 Kč per month for everything in one place.

The calculus flips when you need more than budgeting.

What we dont have yet

MoneySky is new and we are transparent about the gaps. We do not have a mobile app yet – BudgetBakers mobile experience is years ahead. We do not have predictive balance forecasting. We do not offer a lifetime purchase option. And BudgetBakers bank coverage (15,000 plus) is broader than ours (2,000 plus), especially outside Europe.

If you are looking purely for the most affordable, most polished personal budgeting app available in Czechia, BudgetBakers is probably it.

When MoneySky makes more sense

MoneySky is for the person whose finances have grown beyond what a budgeting app can hold. You have started investing. You are earning freelance income. You have thought about tax optimization. And you are tired of logging into several different apps to understand where you actually stand financially.

We are newer. We cost more than a budgeting app. But we are the platform you will not outgrow because we are built for the whole journey, not just the first step.
