Short answer: if invoicing is what you need, Fakturoid is the better invoicing tool, and on its smaller plans it is also cheaper than MoneySky. MoneySky makes sense when invoicing is only one part of your money: personal spending, investments, more than one business, and the recurring question of whether your tax setup still pays off. Below is where each one wins, what each costs at your size, and who should pick which.
Fakturoid has been around since 2009 and says more than 100,000 entrepreneurs use it. Among Czech developers and freelancers it is the default answer to "what do you invoice with?", and for good reason. MoneySky is younger. We launched in 2025 in Prague, and I am the person building it, so read this with that in mind. I will try to be fair, because a one-sided comparison is useless to you and to us.
What Fakturoid does better than us (for now)
Invoicing UX and the client side
Fakturoid has spent well over a decade polishing one workflow, and it shows. Invoice designs are good (all of them are available even on the free plan), and every invoice gets its own web page, the webfaktura, with payment details. On the top plan, Na maximum, your clients also get a portal with their invoice history and can pay online through GoPay or PayPal. MoneySky's invoicing covers the essentials (ARES lookup by IČO, VIES check, templates, credit notes, any currency, reverse charge and automatic payment matching), but we have no client portal and no online card payment on invoices.
Native mobile apps
Fakturoid has iOS and Android apps on every plan. MoneySky is a web app you can install on your phone's home screen (PWA). It works fine on a phone, but it is not a native app and it has no offline mode.
API, integrations and AI assistants
Fakturoid's API v3 uses OAuth 2.0, has official PHP and Ruby SDKs plus partner libraries, and there is an official Make app. In April 2026 Fakturoid launched an MCP server, free on all plans including the free one, which works with ChatGPT, Claude, Codex and Cursor. MoneySky also connects to Claude, ChatGPT and other MCP clients, so "I want to talk to my invoices through an AI assistant" is no longer a reason to pick one over the other. For classic integrations, Fakturoid's ecosystem is more mature.
Accountant handoff
Fakturoid exports to seven Czech accounting programs: Pohoda, Money S3, ABRA Flexi (formerly FlexiBee), Ježek DUEL, EKONOM, Harmonik and Premier, and accountant access starts on Na lehko. MoneySky gives your accountant exports of invoices, transactions and journal entries for any period. If your accountant lives in Pohoda or Money S3, Fakturoid's direct exports are the smoother path.
Tax outputs, e-invoicing and EET 2.0
Already on Na lehko, Fakturoid prepares the income tax return (DPFO) with the ČSSZ overview, keeps a running calculation of social and health insurance and tax advances, and watches both the paušální daň band and the VAT threshold. Na maximum adds the VAT return, kontrolní hlášení, souhrnné hlášení and OSS. In July 2026 Fakturoid added Peppol UBL export, and on 1 October 2026 it announced EET 2.0 support for all paid plans (not live yet). EET 2.0 starts on 1 January 2027 and covers card, cash and QR payments taken in person. If that is you, note that MoneySky has no EET feature.
Free plan, trial and new-business discount
Fakturoid has a free plan for up to 5 clients (without cost tracking or reminders) and a 30-day trial of Na maximum. If your IČO is younger than 12 months, you get 50% off the first annual invoice on any paid plan. MoneySky has no free plan, only a 14-day trial.
If you only need to invoice, Fakturoid is the better tool. I mean that.
The question Fakturoid can't answer
Picture a typical Czech freelancer: a developer, designer or marketer. ETFs with a broker, personal spending in Spendee or Wallet, and once a year a spreadsheet to work out whether flat-rate expenses still beat actual ones, or whether it is finally time for an s.r.o. Three apps and a spreadsheet, and none of them talk to each other.
Fakturoid's world is your business: invoices, costs and the business bank account. It does not see your personal spending or your portfolio. That is a design choice, not a flaw. MoneySky starts from all of your money and builds up:
Everything in one net worth. Bank sync with 2,686+ banks in the EU, EEA and UK through PSD2 open banking (read-only), investment account sync, and other stocks added by ticker and valued at market prices.
Personal and business side by side. Mark each transaction as business or personal, let AI categorise the rest, set budgets, catch forgotten subscriptions, and share accounts and payments with a partner.
Tax decisions, not just tax forms. Compare 40/60/80% flat-rate expenses, actual expenses and paušální daň with income tax, social and health insurance side by side, and run OSVČ vs s.r.o. including director's salary and dividends.
Several businesses in one account. An OSVČ and an s.r.o. under one subscription at no extra cost.
The bookkeeping around invoices. Fixed assets with Czech tax depreciation, business trips with travel allowances, receipt scanning, a filing deadlines calendar, and Czech filing documents (VAT filings, income tax return, social and health insurance overviews) prepared from the same ledger.
What it really costs
Plan | Monthly billing | Annual billing, per month | Key point |
|---|---|---|---|
Fakturoid Zdarma | 0 Kč | 0 Kč | Up to 5 clients |
Fakturoid Na lehko | 164 Kč | 151 Kč | DPFO, social and health calculation |
Fakturoid Na každý den | 231 Kč | 211 Kč | Costs, bank payment matching |
Fakturoid Na maximum | 429 Kč | 393 Kč | VAT filings, client portal, online payments |
MoneySky | €7.99 (about 200 Kč) | about €6.66 (€79.90 a year, about 2,000 Kč) | One plan, everything included |
Prices as listed on the providers' websites in October 2026, Fakturoid prices excluding VAT. Check their pricing pages before you decide.
The honest math first: if invoicing is all you need, Fakturoid Na lehko is cheaper than MoneySky, and the free plan is cheaper still. A new business pays 82 Kč a month for Na lehko in the first year.
The closer match to what MoneySky does is Na každý den, because that is where costs and automatic payment matching start: 211 to 231 Kč. Add a personal finance app such as Spendee Premium (129 to 149 Kč a month in the Czech App Store, $5.99 list price) and you are at roughly 340 to 380 Kč a month, still without investment tracking or a regime comparison. The VAT bases differ, so treat that as a rough figure, but the direction holds: one platform at about 200 Kč costs less than two that do not share data. If you need Fakturoid for VAT filings, you are on Na maximum at 393 to 429 Kč. The full detail is in Fakturoid's plan comparison.
What MoneySky is, and what it isn't yet
MoneySky's invoicing has grown up: credit notes, tax documents for received advance payments, every invoice downloadable as ISDOC and Peppol UBL, import of PDF invoices issued elsewhere, and sent invoices that lock their number and keep later edits as revisions. Neither tool sends over the Peppol network today; Fakturoid has announced sending through a certified partner, MoneySky gives you the file to send.
What we still don't do: native apps, a client payment portal, card payments on invoices, EET 2.0, team seats, inventory, or double-entry bookkeeping for an s.r.o. (we provide accountant exports instead). We are also a smaller, younger product. Fakturoid is the best invoicing tool; MoneySky is a platform where invoicing is one part.
Who should choose what
Choose Fakturoid if your finances are mostly invoicing, you want the client portal and online payments, your accountant works in Pohoda or Money S3, you take card or cash payments in person and need EET 2.0, you want native apps, or you are a new business that can use the 50% first-year discount.
Choose MoneySky if invoicing is one piece of a bigger picture: you invest, you mix personal and business money, you run an OSVČ and an s.r.o. side by side, or you want to know which tax regime actually pays off before you file. If you are tired of three apps and a spreadsheet, that is exactly the problem we built it for.
FAQ
Is Fakturoid free?
Partly. The Zdarma plan is free for up to 5 clients, without cost tracking or reminders. Paid plans start at 151 Kč a month excluding VAT on annual billing (Fakturoid pricing), and there is a 30-day trial.
Which Fakturoid plan do I need for the VAT return?
Na maximum. It covers the VAT return, kontrolní hlášení, souhrnné hlášení and OSS. The income tax return and social and health calculations are already on Na lehko.
Does Fakturoid work with ChatGPT or Claude?
Yes. Its MCP server launched in April 2026 and is free on all plans. MoneySky connects to Claude and ChatGPT over MCP too.
Will Fakturoid support EET 2.0?
Fakturoid announced EET 2.0 support for all paid plans on 1 October 2026. EET 2.0 applies from 1 January 2027 to payments taken in person; bank transfers are outside it.
Can MoneySky replace Fakturoid?
For a freelancer who invoices by bank transfer, yes: invoices, payment matching, credit notes, ISDOC and the tax paperwork are all there. If you need a client portal, online card payments, EET 2.0 or native apps, stay with Fakturoid. If you are also weighing a budgeting app, see MoneySky vs Spendee.
If you want to see your own numbers, connect one bank account in the 14-day free trial (no card needed) and check the pricing. If it doesn't fit, export your data and move on.
